How does it work ?

An emergency lighting inspection may or may not be disruptive to normal operations depending the type of business, building and condition of the existing installation. Therefore, it is important to consider how the inspection works before booking us in.

Upon arrival we will need to turn off all of your lighting circuits, this can either be done at the relevant fuseboards or at individual 'key switches' if they have been installed. Once the lighting has been isolated this should activate the emergency lights which are powered by internal batteries. We then have to wait 3 hours to ensure the batteries are compliant, whilst also checking further details of the installation.

It is important to consider that if you lack sufficient emergency lighting then areas of your business including toilets and fire exits may be dark during the test. If you have good emergency lighting, then this is usually sufficient enough to carry on with normal operations.
